Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Lee County Humane Society! We have been serving Lee County since 1974 and couldn’t achieve our goals without the support of individuals like you. LCHS relies on the caring hand a volunteer gives. If you are an animal lover who wants to give back to the community, come enrich the lives of our pets at LCHS!

LCHS Shelter Volunteers

If you love animals, are at least 19 years old, and are able to make a weekly 2-hour commitment then we invite you to become a Shelter Volunteer. We need volunteers daily between 8:00am and 5:00pm to help in the shelter with many different tasks:

  • Dog Walking and Play Time
  • Cat Socialization and Play Time
  • Helping with Dishes/Laundry
  • Greeting Adopters
  • Bathing Dogs
  • Grounds Care
  • Special Projects and Events
  • Click Here to Complete the Volunteer Application

To become a volunteer you must complete the online volunteer application and attend a 1-hour orientation. After your application is reviewed an invitation to join a volunteer orientation will be sent to you. Volunteer Orientation is held approx. 2 times per month and must be scheduled in advance as space is limited to 10 participants per session. We also ask that all volunteers wear “LCHS Volunteer” t-shirts while volunteering. T-shirts are available for purchase during Volunteer Orientation for $5.

If you are between the ages of 12-18 years old, but would like to volunteer at the animal shelter, a parent or guardian must volunteer with you. Contact for more info.

After attending volunteer orientation you will be trained and ready to start volunteering! Active volunteers can use the below portal to schedule their volunteer times and update their volunteer profile.

    AU IMPACT Shelter Helpers

If you are an Auburn University student looking to fulfill community service hours for a class or civic group we invite you to check out IMPACT Shelter Helpers.

IMPACT is Auburn University's central resource for volunteer opportunities and community service for students. Organized by AU’s Center for Community Service, IMPACT is not a club that requires dues or meetings but an opportunity for students to give back.
